ANNOUNCING: International Animation Day

Join in the festivities on Oct 28.

Hi guys,

October 28 is International Animation Day! 🎉 And I think it would be awesome if we all celebrate together! Let me explain:

On October 28, 1892 (that’s 132 years ago!), a French inventor named Charles-Émile Reynaud put on the first public performance of an animated film using this innovative device he called the Théâtre Optique, which means “Optical Theater”. You can learn more about his device and see an example of one of his animations in this video hosted by Walt Disney:

In honor of that first animated screening, an animation foundation called ASIFA declared October 28 to be International Animation Day and has been holding celebrations of animation on this day, every year since 2002!

In recent years, International Animation Day was observed on every inhabited continent, in over 50 counties, with over 1000 events around the world. 🎉 So this year I want to do something cool.

On October 28, 2024, I want you to login to the Andymation App (which you can download from the Apple Store or Google Play Store) and upload a video of yourself (less than 60 seconds) naming an animated film or video that’s important to you and tell us why you love it. It’s a way for our whole community to share our favorite animation recommendations with each other!

So… on October 28, remember to:

  • ✔️ Log into the Andymation App.

  • ✔️ Record a video of yourself naming an animated film or video that you love.

  • ✔️ Also, say why it’s important to you.

  • ✔️ Upload the video to the app.

  • ✔️ Put it in the category “International Animation Day”.

  • ✔️ Watch and comment on other people’s videos.

I will be posting my own video about an animation that’s special to me and I look forward to hearing about yours!

✌️
