Make the Perfect Holiday Gift

Are you already feeling the pressure of choosing the perfect holiday gifts? Picking the perfect gift can be a challenge!🎁 "Will they like it?"

🎁 "Have they already got one?"

🎁 "Does this show how much I appreciate them?" One great solution: make something that uniquely comes from you! You may remember the video I posted last November about the flipbook John made for his wife—I loved how he was able to share an important personal story, while using just simple animation and stick figures.

This holiday season, consider making a flipbook for the person you love! It’s a present that’s uniquely from you. And your flipbook will mean more if you personalize it for the person you’re giving it to. How to do that?

Start by asking yourself questions like these:

⭐ What special experiences have I shared with this person?

⭐ Do we share any special inside jokes?

⭐ Is there a symbol or idea that is very important to them?

⭐ What do I admire about them?

⭐ What is the most important thing I want to communicate to them?

It can help to write your answers down or talk them through with someone. And then ask yourself:

“How can I represent one of these answers in an animation?”

Write down every animation idea that comes to you, then narrow down to your favorites. I often like to consider ideas for several days, then write things down when inspiration strikes. 💡

Eventually, the perfect idea will come to you and you can get going on your animation! As it did for the six gift-giving animators in this video.
